The 4 Parties

Before looking at the 8 cognitive functions themselves, there are the 4 categories of functions, which every person has each of in their characteristic 4-function cognitive stack. These are:

Approach

Reason

Awareness

Development

These will be referred to as Parties.

Approach- Te, Fe

This party governs the introduction of steps to make a thing externally meaningful.

Reason- Ti, Fi

This party governs the introduction of steps to make a thing internally meaningful.

Awareness- Se, Ne

This party governs the absorption of external data into external understanding.

Development- Si, Ni

This party governs the instantiation of internal data into internal understanding.
