Inclinations

A very important part of the Myers-Briggs derived personality framework is the interplay between cognitive functions. This document will cover some terminology that may help the streamlining process for this information.

To begin with, the descriptors E, S, T and J are definite inclinations- that is to say, the way the individual inhabiting the world with these inclinations is the most clear, and the least multitudinous. The descriptors I, N, F and P are infinite inclinations, and are the most multitudinous and the least clear.

What does this mean? The definite inclinations are grouped together because they share the same straightforward and minimal quality. An Extraverted function inhabits the external space, which is more visible and tangible. A Thinking function cuts out additional information to provide a narrow answer.

The infinite inclinations are grouped together because they share the same abstract and maximal quality. An Intuitive function accounts for multi-faceted detail. A Perceiver opens up the landscape of possible occupations for the psyche.

People with a more definite inclination are more given to the obvious and the scrutable, while people with a more infinite inclination are more given to the strange and the inscrutable.
