Attitudinal Summations

Discerning the exact nature of the 8 cognitive functions is usually a time-consuming task for an individual, so here are some summations that may help in understanding them:

Practical/gentle Te/Fe

Reasonable/receptive Ti/Fi

Voracious/enthusiastic Se/Ne

Passive/theoretical Si/Ni

Extraverted Thinking is practical because it is concerned with efficiency, logistics and time management. It is combined with a Perceptual function so that it understands the information that needs to be externalised.

Introverted Feeling is receptive because it is concerned with plurality, subjectivity and serenity.  It is combined with a Perceptual function so that it understands the information that needs to be internalised.

Extraverted Sensing is voracious because it has an appetite for obvious, instantial detail. It is combined with a Judging function so that it has an outlet for creation.
