The 4 Parties Expanded

While the 4 Parties categorise some of the activities an individual performs cognitively, they do not, by themselves, represent the entirety of what a person is able to do. Each Party can partner with one of two others, and relies on its counterpart. It is also important to note these relationships are complex.

An Approach function may be paired with a Development function. This is the typical partnership for the E-Js. A person uses this combination to make headway on an external task, while using their developed thoughts to provide them insight about the order or variety of tasks that should be done. A person may also pair an Approach function with an Awareness function. This is the characteristic partnership for the E-Js. A person uses this combination to make headway on an external task, while scanning the external world for obstacles and boons. Using an Approach function also relies on Reason, and vice versa. An Approach needs a good understanding of principals, and Reason needs to be used in context of application. They are counterparts that must stay in communication for mutual success, so the relationship is slightly more difficult than straightforward partnerships.

A Reason function may be paired with an Awareness function. This is the typical partnership for the I-Ps. A person uses this combination to process principality, while observing the external world for examples and points of interest. A person may also pair a Reason function with a Development function. This is the characteristic partnership for the I-Ps. A person uses this combination to process principality, while examining their developed thoughts to provide them insight about the veracity of their conclusions. Using a Reason function also relies on Approach, and vice versa. Reason needs to be used in the context of application, and an Approach needs a good understanding of principals. They are counterparts that must stay in communication for mutual success, so the relationship is slightly more difficult than straightforward partnerships.

An Awareness function may be paired with a Reason function. This is the typical partnership for the E-Ps. A person uses this combination to observe the external world for points of interest and indications, while processing the hows and whys a thing may be. A person may also pair an Awareness function with an Approach function. This is the characteristic partnership for the E-Ps. A person uses this combination to observe the external world for points of interest and indications, then to get headway on an external task. Using an Awareness function also relies on Development, and vice versa. Awareness cannot be possible without internal guidance on what to observe, and Development is not possible without data to process. They are counterparts that must stay in communication for mutual success, so the relationship is slightly more difficult than straightforward partnerships.

A Development function may be paired with an Approach function. This is the typical partnership for the I-Js. A person utilises this combination to apply their developed thoughts at the exact degree for which an external task should be performed, and then does it. A person may also pair a Development function with a Reason function. This is the characteristic partnership for the I-Js. A person uses this combination to apply principality to their accumulated thoughts. Development is not possible without data to process and Awareness cannot be possible without internal guidance on what to observe. They are counterparts that must stay in communication for mutual success, so the relationship is slightly more difficult than straightforward partnerships.
